Friends of Faith,
" I will give thanks to the Lord according to
His righteousness,
And will sing praise to
the name of the Lord Most High."
Psalm 7:17
One of the themes surrounding Christmas is the fact that glory was given to God. The angels sang "glory to God in the highest". This should be the desire and action of every Christian.
Do you desire to give God glory in everything you do? You may desire many things, prosperity, health, success in business, etc. but in everything it should be for the purpose of giving glory to God.
Spurgeon puts it this way in one of his devotionals, "Let your desire for God’s glory be a growing desire. You blessed Him in your youth, do not be content with such praises as you gave Him then. Has God prospered you in business? Give Him more as He has given you more. Has God given you experience? Praise Him by stronger faith than you exercised at first. Does your knowledge grow? Then sing more sweetly. Do you enjoy happier times than you once had? Have you been restored from sickness, and has your sorrow been turned into peace and joy? Then give Him more music."
The secret of having a joyful Christmas is first to know the Savior as your Savior. Secondly, it is to understand the truth of God’s word, "it is more blessed to give then to receive". A grateful, thankful, praising heart will overflow with the joy of Christmas. With the angels give glory to God in the highest and you will experience the joy of the Christmas and Happiness in the new year.
Wishing all of you a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year.
