ABORTION, HOMOSEXUALITY, Fornication
(sex outside of marriage)
When considering the biblical reasons for positions on
abortion, homosexuality and fornication
(sex outside of marriage) we must first lay the foundation for why we
accept the Bible as God's Word and our only authority for Godly living.
1. All Scripture is inspired by God.
"All Scripture is given by
inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction,
for instruction in
righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16)
2. The Bible is not man's opinion, it is the work of God's
Holy Spirit.
"For prophecy never came by the
will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved
by the Holy Spirit."
(2 Peter 1:21)
3. The Word of God is applicable for all generations.
"Remember those who rule over
you, who have spoken the Word of God to you, whose faith
follow, considering
the outcome of their conduct. Jesus
Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
(Hebrews 13:7-8)
4. It is the Living-Word.
"For the word of God is living
and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing
even to the division
of soul and spirit, and of joints and
marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents
of the heart."
(Hebrews 4:12)
ABORTION
There was punishment for anyone who caused a woman to lose her
unborn baby.
"If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she
gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall
surely be punished accordingly as the woman's husband imposes on him; and he
shall pay as the judges
determine. But if
any harm
follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth,
hand for hand,
foot for foot, burn for
burn, wound for wound, stripe for
stripe.
(Exodus 21:22-25)
God works with babies while they are still in their mothers womb.
"For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and
shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled
with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb."
(Luke 1:15)
"The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 'Before I
formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I
set
you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the
nations."
(Jeremiah 1:4-5)
Jesus was originally an "unwanted baby"! God had to intervene and change Joseph's heart and attitude.
Mary was an
"unwed" pregnant girl! She was pregnant by Someone other than her husband to be!
Yet none of these reasons were sufficient to have the child aborted,
Thank God!
"And the angel answered and said to him,
"I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to
speak to you and bring you these glad tidings"
(Luke 1:19)
Homosexuality
It is a direct rebellion against God's plan for His creation
to reproduce.
"So God created man in His own image; in the image of
God He created him; male and female He created them.
Then
God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply;
fill the earth and subdue it; have
dominion over the fish of the sea, over
the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on
the earth."
(Genesis 1:27-28)
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of Homosexuality.
"Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men
of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from
every quarter,
surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said
to him, "Where are the men who came to
you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally." So Lot went out to them
through the
doorway, shut the door behind him, and said, "Please,
my brethren, do not do so wickedly!
(Genesis 19:4-7)
It is a sin, an abomination!
"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman.
It is an abomination."
(Leviticus 18:22)
It is committed by people with "depraved" minds
darkened by sin.
"Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men
committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as
they did not
like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
debased mind, to do those things
which are not fitting"
(Romans 1:27-28)
It is listed among those sins which (if not repented of) will keep a person out
of heaven.
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit
the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither
fornicators, nor idolaters,
nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor
thieves, nor covetous, nor
drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will
inherit the kingdom of God."
(1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10)
The abominable will perish in hell.
"But the cowardly, unbelieving,
abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall
have their
part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the
second death."
(Revelations 21:8)
Homosexuals are just like any other person living in sin. Like liars,
adulterers, etc. They need to repent and stop sinning and return to Jesus for cleansing and
forgiveness. They too can become a new creation in Christ Jesus.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have
become
new."
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
Fornication
(sex outside of marriage)
Fornicators will not go to heaven.
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit
the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither
fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor
sodomites"
(1 CORINTHIANS 6:9)
Sexual relations are immoral when outside of the marriage
relationship.
"Do you not know that your bodies are members
of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make
them members
of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not
know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with
her? For "the two," He
says, "shall become one flesh." But he who is
joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man
does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins
against his own body. Or do you not know that your
body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom
you have from God, and
you are not your own?"
(1 CORINTHIANS 6:15-19)
Immoral people will not enter heaven.
"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are:
adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness"
(Galatians 5:19)
Marriage is honorable but fornication and adultery God will
judge.
"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled;
but fornicators and adulterers God will judge."
(Hebrews 13:4)
The most important thing to remember when
considering the above sins is that every one of them God is willing to forgive. In fact He longingly
waits for those who have fell victim to these sins to come back to Him. His death on the cross paid for all sins including these. We can have a
new beginning in Jesus.
